Bishops call for clarity over the death of Bishop Osório Citora Afonso

Bishop Afonso, who served as the Bishop of Quelimane and the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Beira, was killed at his residence in Quelimane more than three months ago. The Episcopal Conference of Mozambique expressed deep concern regarding the motives behind the crime and the identity of the killers.

The bishops issued this appeal at the conclusion of their assembly, which took place from September 2 to 4 at the St. Augustine Interdiocesan Major Philosophical Seminary in Matola. The conference stated that uncovering the facts and ensuring justice are necessary steps for reconciliation and the renewal of the country.
