Catholic Archdiocese in Malawi Launches Endowment Fund to Foster Self-Reliant Church, Boost Evangelization

The Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe in Malawi has launched the Tiyende Limodzi Endowment Fund to improve financial sustainability and support its mission through education, health, social development, and pastoral programs. Archbishop George Desmond Tambala officially unveiled the fund in his April 2026 Easter exhortation, with the formal launch occurring on July 25.

Archbishop Tambala stated that the fund is a long-term effort to build a self-reliant Church capable of proclaiming the Gospel and serving society for future generations. He noted that traditional mission funding faces increasing difficulties due to global and local economic conditions as well as climate-related challenges. The Archbishop said the fund demonstrates the unity and commitment of the archdiocesan family.
