Catholic Bishops in Angola Urge Christians to Make Faith Visible in Families, Workplaces and Society

Catholic bishops in Angola have called on Christians to demonstrate their faith through their conduct in families, workplaces, and society. During separate homilies on Sunday, September 13, the bishops emphasized that evangelization must extend beyond parish boundaries into daily life.

Bishop António Lungieki Pedro Bengui, an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Luanda, told catechists during the opening of the Catechetical Year at St. John Paul II Parish that their witness must reach their homes and professional environments. He noted that workplaces are particularly important for Christian witness because people spend much of their lives there and these environments shape future generations.

In a separate message for the Feast of Our Lady of Nazareth, Bishop Emílio Sumbelelo of the Diocese of Viana urged families to restore fellowship, forgiveness, and hospitality. He stated that the work of building the Church is recognized through the witness Christians provide in the specific environments where they live and work.
