Church must stop acting ‘on the back foot’ says Fr Patrick Cahill

Fr. Patrick Cahill told hundreds of people at the CHARIS Ireland National Day of Renewal in Maynooth that the Church must stop acting as if it is constantly on the defensive. Speaking at the event, the Holy Family Mission chaplain in Waterford urged Catholics to show more confidence in the faith because contemporary society is searching for meaning and purpose.

The day of renewal included various speakers sharing testimonies regarding the Holy Spirit. Radio presenter Nikki Hayes spoke about her recovery from addiction and homelessness, while Maria, a 22-year-old Jesus Youth missionary, described how her relationship with the Holy Spirit led her to a year of mission work. The event ended with an evening of worship and a concert.
