Comienzan las primeras perforaciones e inyecciones para mejorar el terreno de la iglesia del Sagrario

Workers have begun the first drillings and cement injections to stabilize the ground beneath the Sagrario church. This work is a new phase of a project started in 2016 after a large crack appeared in the building.

The Diocese of Málaga stated that the project aims to improve the soil's strength and consistency to prevent the monument from sinking. Technicians will perform approximately 150 treatment operations inside and outside the building. This process involves drilling small holes, sometimes reaching depths of nearly 19 meters, and inserting steel tubes with valves to inject cement grout at controlled depths.

Archaeological remains located under the church and its immediate surroundings have influenced how the work is carried out. Recent years included archaeological studies to better understand these remains before the current structural intervention.
