Bishop Mariano Crociata declares excommunication of Don Leonardo Pompei

Bishop Mariano Crociata has declared the automatic excommunication of Father Leonardo Pompei for the crime of schism. The Bishop of Latina–Terracina–Sezze–Priverno informed the clergy and the faithful that the priest is excommunicated latae sententiae.

The decision follows an extrajudicial penal process conducted by the Diocese of Latina. This process was carried out under a mandate from the Dicastery and concluded this past May.
