Writing for the CNBB, the bishop noted that political debates since 2013 have shifted toward confrontations intended to humiliate and destroy rivals rather than providing space for people to discern which candidates to choose.

Bishop Paz argued that because politics is the art and science of the common good, debates should focus on that objective. He suggested that the quality of political discourse directly impacts the quality of future leadership and governance.
