Religious sisters from the Siervas del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y de los Pobres provide education, food, and protection to Rarámuri and mestizo children in the Sierra Tarahumara region of Mexico. Through schools and boarding houses, the sisters care for children living in communities affected by poverty, migration, and drug trafficking violence.

Sister Benita Alonso, speaking from Batopilas, acknowledged the difficult environment but encouraged the sisters to maintain their faith.
