More than 3,500 children in Italy are estimated to be orphans of femicide, according to a report by Dentro l'Avvenire. These children are considered secondary victims because they lose a mother to violence, often while the perpetrator of the crime is their own father.

While laws exist to protect these children, current protections contain gaps and resources are not distributed effectively. Giuseppe Muolo discussed these challenges in a recent episode of Dentro l'Avvenire, featuring perspectives from those directly affected and those providing support.

Stefania Mattioli, the grandmother of two orphans, shared her personal experience with the situation. Roberta Beolchi, president of the Edela association, and Patrizia Schiarizza, president of the Il Giardino Segreto association, also spoke about how they assist these families.
