Father Silas Bogati visits flood-affected areas in Nepal

In brief

Father Silas Bogati, the Apostolic Administrator of the Apostolic Vicariate of Nepal, visited flood-affected areas in Trisuli to assess damage and meet with displaced families. He traveled with Sr. Cecilia Durga Shrestha, the Executive Director of Caritas Nepal, to visit reception centers and evaluate the needs of those impacted by the floods.

During the mission, Father Bogati observed areas where floodwaters swept away many people, including a school containing 300 students. He reported that the survivors are experiencing trauma and that the Church is providing support through prayer and solidarity.

Caritas Nepal is currently operating three reception centers and eight child-friendly spaces in Nuwakot to provide shelter, protection, and essential aid to families and children. Father Bogati and Sr. Durga Shrestha met with local partners, volunteers, and Caritas staff to identify specific challenges and needs at these centers.
