Pope Leo XIV presided over Holy Mass for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Sanctuary of the Mother of Good Counsel in Genazzano on the evening of September 7, 2026.

During his homily, the Pope described Mary as a sign of God's faithfulness and the dawn of a world freed from evil. He asked the faithful to seek her good counsel to help them receive the divine Word and make wise decisions through authentic conversion. The Pope noted that he had felt a duty to visit the sanctuary since the beginning of his pontificate because of the maternal presence and wisdom he felt from Our Lady of Good Counsel throughout his life.
