Pope Leo XIV told pilgrims in St. Peter's Square during the Sunday Angelus that complaining and slander are easy paths that produce nothing and paralyze situations. Speaking from the Apostolic Palace, the Pope said the Gospel teaches freedom through charity and provides ways for Christian communities to practice mutual love.

The Pope suggested that communities exercise love through fraternal correction, which he described as a delicate art requiring honesty and gradual steps. He advised that people should speak sincerely to one another privately first, then involving two or three people, and finally the entire community if necessary to turn conflicts into opportunities for growth.

Leo XIV also noted that Jesus taught the practice of forgiving debts. He explained that while people may owe one another a debt of mutual love, they should not remain imprisoned by it. He stated that the care and goodness received from others make people more free and capable of responsibility.
