Theologian and author Joel Halldorf argued that the primary value of books lies in their power to transform readers during a talk at the Book 2.0 – The Future of Reading event in Lisbon on September 15.

Halldorf traced the history of reading from ancient philosophy and Christian monasteries to modern screen culture and artificial intelligence. He defended slow, concentrated reading as a necessary method for developing empathy, reflection, and inner change.
