The Archdiocese of Oviedo began the Jubilee of the Holy Cross, also known as the Perdonanza, on Monday, September 14, at the Oviedo Cathedral. Large numbers of faithful attended the opening day of the event.

The theme for this year's Jubilee is "United in the Cross, builders of peace." The first Eucharist centered on the theme of the cross as a source of unity.
