Elderly sisters of the Siervas del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y de los Pobres preserve the history of a century of religious mission in the Sierra Tarahumara of Chihuahua, Mexico. While these women no longer travel the rugged terrain due to retirement or the need for assistance, they maintain the memory of the remote Rarámuri communities they served.

The congregation has worked in the region since 1904, reaching isolated areas by foot, mule, or small plane. These sisters remember the specific details of the landscape, including the dirt roads and landslides, as well as the people they served. They are among 20 religious congregations currently working in Chihuahua.
