The Senate has approved a new election law in its fourth reading, according to Agenzia SIR. The law, which the government majority strongly supported, is informally referred to as Stabilicum or Melonellum.

The proposed system uses a proportional method with a premium, alongside specific thresholds and preferences. Because of changes made during the legislative process, the law must now undergo an additional passage to the Camera for a final vote, where the vote is secret.
