Leone XIV cancella i tagli agli stipendi a cardinali e superiori decisi nell’era Covid

Pope Leo XIV has repealed the 2021 Motu Proprio "A Sustainable Future," ending salary reductions for cardinals, dicastery heads, secretaries, clergy, and religious leaders. The original rule was established by Pope Francis to address the financial emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

After consulting with the Secretariat for the Economy and reviewing the matter, the Pope abolished the regulation. However, the decision does not reverse the salary cuts that were already applied while the law was in effect. This includes the previous suspension of biennial seniority pay increases.
