Lux Mundi invites to participate this Friday in the Ecumenical Prayer for Creation

Lux Mundi invites people to participate in the Ecumenical Prayer for Creation this Friday, September 18, at 19.00 at the San Jorge Anglican Chapel. The theme for this year is “Agua Viva,” taken from the prophet Ezequiel.

The celebration will focus on water, including the Mediterráneo, the rivers of Andalucía, dams, and wetlands. The service includes prayers from various traditions adapted to the reality of Málaga, a gesture prepared with the Laudato sì platform, and music from the choir of the Santa Rosa de Lima parish.

Gloria Uribe, director of Lux Mundi, explained that the Tiempo de la Creación originated from an initiative of the Orthodox Church when Patriarch Dimitrios proposed September 1 as a day of prayer for creation in 1989. The Sibiu Ecumenical Assembly later proposed extending this celebration from September 1 to October 4 in 2007. In 2015, Pope Francisco officially established September 1 as the Jornada Mundial de Oración por el Cuidado de la Creación for the Catholic Church.
