Vatican News reports that Proti and Jaçint were brothers and slaves who belonged to Eugjenies, the daughter of Filip, a nobleman and prefect of Aleksandrisë. After Eugjenies converted to the faith, her fiancé persecuted the group, resulting in the martyrdom of the brothers and the woman. Although they belonged to a humble and marginalized class, they became signs of conversion for the powerful of their time.
