Most Americans know they’re on their phone too much

More than half of American adults believe they spend too much time on their smartphones, according to a Pew Research Center survey published September 1.

The findings come from a study of 9,750 U.S. adults surveyed between May 26 and June 1, 2026. The survey used a nationally representative sample to examine how much time the population spends on mobile devices.
