Vatican to hold press conference on new martyrs

The Holy See Press Office will host a press conference on Thursday, September 10, 2026, to present a conference regarding whether the 21st century represents a new era of martyrs.

Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, will speak alongside Archbishop Fabio Fabene, secretary and president of the Commission for New Martyrs – Witnesses of the Faith, and Professor Andrea Riccardi, vice president of the commission. The event relates to a conference scheduled for Augustinianum on September 15, 2026.

The meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Via della Conciliazione 54. Vatican News will livestream the session on its YouTube channel.
