Nuncio: Beatitudes are ‘self-portrait of Jesus,’ allowing Christians to see what he values

Archbishop Gabriele G. Caccia described the Beatitudes as a self-portrait of Jesus that shows Christians what he values. The papal nuncio to the United States spoke during a Mass on Sept. 3 to mark the beginning of the academic year at The Catholic University of America.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit took place at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington. Archbishop Caccia said Catholic education should help students grow deeper in their identity as children of God.
