‘One Campus’ model aims for growth, stability for two B.C. Catholic schools

St. James & St. Ann’s Elementary School and St. John Brebeuf Regional Secondary School in Abbotsford are moving toward a single governance model called One Campus. The schools recently informed families of the creation of a joint Regional Education Committee as the first phase of this plan to provide a continuous Catholic education from kindergarten through Grade 12.

Co-chairs of the Regional Education Committee Jake Turek and Cara Hudson stated that the initiative addresses the fact that local Catholic elementary education has not grown alongside the rapidly increasing population in the Fraser Valley. They noted that while parish communities and the region are expanding, the elementary school system has not kept pace.

Families should not expect immediate changes to school names or uniforms. The new committee will implement archdiocesan policies and set local school policies as the schools work toward greater stability and growth.
