Pope Leo XIV urges respect for human dignity

Pope Leo XIV told pilgrims during a Wednesday general audience that respecting human dignity requires people to embrace an identity based on the gift of self and to take responsibility for the dignity of others.

Addressing the crowd in St. Peter’s Square, the pope said that human dignity demands solidarity and excludes self-centered isolation. This teaching is part of his ongoing catechetical cycle regarding the Second Vatican Council’s constitution Gaudium et Spes.
