Diocese of Little Rock renovates Byrne Hall

The Diocese of Little Rock will begin renovations on Byrne Hall at the St. John Catholic Center campus on Sept. 14. The project, which has an estimated cost of $5 million, aims to create more office, storage, and meeting space for retreats and conferences. The updated building will also feature a warming kitchen for food preparation and service.

Bishop Anthony B. Taylor noted that the 110-year-old building requires a major overhaul because the campus lacks sufficient space to meet the needs of various groups. The construction is expected to last one year and is supported by CASA donors.

During the construction period, the Harrison Street entrance to the campus will close. Visitors and staff must use the main gate on N. Tyler Street to enter the campus. Built in 1916, Byrne Hall is a two-story marble, granite, and brick structure designed by Frank M. Blaisdell in the Collegiate Gothic style.
