Resignations and Appointments

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archimandrite Jan Sergiusz Gajek, M.I.C., as apostolic administrator for Byzantine rite Catholics in Belarus. The Holy See appointed Father Liavoncij Tumouski, M.S.U., to succeed him in the role.

Father Tumouski was born in Polotsk in 1973 and was ordained a priest on May 18, 2003. He studied at the major seminary of Lviv and the Catholic Ukrainian University before earning a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome. His previous roles include serving as prior of the Monastery of Saints Borys and Hleb in Polotsk and holding dean positions within the Belarusian Greek-Catholic Church.
