Father David is departing for a new mission in the Diocese of Tete, Mozambique, following a sending Mass held after he received his visa. He will join a team of missionaries of various ages who are currently active in the region.

The Diocese of Málaga reported that David's interest in missionary work began in primary school. After nearly 6 years as a priest, he initially sought to serve in Venezuela but later proposed joining the mission through the IEME. Following approval from Bishop Jesús Catalá and later Bishop José Antonio Satué, David underwent training through the IEME, which included visits to missionaries in Zambia and a specialized course in Madrid.

To prepare for his assignment, David studied Portuguese in Lisbon. He expressed his desire for prayers to remain faithful to his mission alongside the existing team in Tete.
