Pope names Thomas Animoottil auxiliary bishop of Kottayam

The Synod of the Syro-Malabar Major Archepiscopal Church has elected Rev. Thomas Animoottil as auxiliary bishop of Kottayam. He was born on January 13, 1962, in Payyavoor, Kerala, India. He has served in various roles in his archeparchy, including parish priest, secretary to the bishop, and vicar forane. He has also served in the Eparchy of Saint Thomas the Apostle of Chicago in the United States.
