San Salvatore in Lauro celebra il 230° anniversario del miracolo dell’Addolorata e la festa di Padre Pio

The San Salvatore in Lauro sanctuary will hold celebrations from September 12 to 23 to mark the 230th anniversary of the miracle of the Madonna Addolorata degli Agonizzanti and the feast of Saint Padre Pio. The event commemorates a 1796 phenomenon in Rome where the image of the Madonna Addolorata reportedly moved its eyes between July 11 and December 2.

The miraculous image is temporarily housed at the sanctuary while the Church of the Nativity of Jesus in Piazza Pasquino undergoes restoration.

The festivities begin with a Triduo to the Addolorata on September 12 and 13, with masses at 18.00 led by Father Camillo Podlaszuk. On September 14, Bishop Emeritus Edoardo Cerrato of Ivrea will preside over a mass at 18.00 for the feast of the Esaltazione della Santa Croce. On September 15, Bishop Petar Rajič, Prefetto della Casa Pontificia, will lead the 18.00 mass in memory of the Beata Vergine Maria Addolorata.
