Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta called on the people of Panama to engage in dialogue and reduce aggressive language during a Sunday Mass at the Santa María la Antigua Basilica Cathedral. The Archbishop spoke during commemorations for the 513th anniversary of the first diocese on the mainland and the centenary of the Archdiocese of Panama.

Ulloa Mendieta stated that Panama needs to lower its tone, noting that doing so does not mean abandoning convictions, staying silent about injustice, or hiding problems. He said that while certain situations must be denounced and responsibilities demanded, truth does not require insults. He encouraged the faithful and society to disagree without contempt and to seek justice without feeding hatred.

The Archbishop noted that these principles apply to society, social media, families, and the Church. He said that people cannot ask for peace in the streets if they carry hatred and war in their words.
