Pope Leo XIV issued a signed decree on September 14 to establish new premises for the Vatican Apostolic Archive and the Vatican Apostolic Library. The decree addresses the growing storage needs of both institutions.

The Vatican found suitable space within Vatican City to accommodate these requirements. Because of this discovery, the Church will not move construction to the special jurisdiction area of the Lateran as previously planned.
