History
Joinville, in Santa Catarina in Brazil's Southern Region, is the metropolitan see of an ecclesiastical province of its own (Latin: Archidioecesis Ioinvillensis). Before its elevation in 2024 it served as a suffragan diocese within the province of Florianópolis, also in Santa Catarina. The archdiocese's cathedral, Catedral São Francisco Xavier in the city of Joinville, honors saint Francis Xavier.
