The Archdiocese of Olinda e Recife is a Latin Church metropolitan see in the state of Pernambuco, originating as a prelature in 1614 and raised to an archdiocese in 1910.   • Kolbe Arte to screen Carlo Acutis film for free in Brazil

    Kolbe Arte will offer free screenings of the film "O Céu Não Pode Esper@" throughout Brazil during October to mark the first anniversary of the canonization of Carlo Acutis. The Catholic film distributor is making the movie available to parishes, schools, communities, movements, companies, and other institutions. The screenings are scheduled to take place from October 1 to October 31 at the participating locations, provided the institutions have the necessary equipment for the session.     Dom João Justino de Medeiros Silva opened the meeting of the Pastoral Episcopal Council (Consep) of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) on Tuesday, September 22. The archbishop of Goiânia and first vice-president of the CNBB presided over the first day of the meeting because the president, Cardinal Jaime Spengler, attended the funeral of Dadeus Grings, the archbishop emeritus of Porto Alegre.   • Archbishop Accrocca presents 800th anniversary celebrations of St. Francis' death

    Archbishop Felice Accrocca presented a schedule of events at the Vatican to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi.
