The Diocese of Picos in Piaui was established on October 28, 1974, as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Teresina. Bishop Plinio Jose Luz da Silva has served as its second bishop since taking office in January 2004.

Belonging to the ecclesiastical province of Teresina in Brazil, this diocese (Latin: Dioecesis Picuensis) has its seat in the city of Picos.
