History

The oldest episcopal see in the New World north of Mexico, and the primatial see of Canada, is the Archdiocese of Québec (Latin: Archidiœcesis Quebecensis; French: Archidiocèse de Québec), a Latin Church archdiocese of the Catholic Church in Quebec, Canada. It also serves as the metropolitan see of an ecclesiastical province whose suffragan dioceses are Chicoutimi, Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière and Trois-Rivières. Notre-Dame de Québec in Quebec City is the archdiocese's cathedral.

    Catholics in Canada are invited to participate in the annual Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada on September 26 and 27, 2026. The collection supports the work of dioceses and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.
