The Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina is a Latin Church see in Calabria, southern Italy, formed in 1986 by the union of the dioceses of Crotone and Santa Severina. Despite its archiepiscopal title, it is a suffragan of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Catanzaro-Squillace.

History

In Calabria in southern Italy, the Latin Church Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina (Latin: Archidioecesis Crotonensis-Sanctae Severinae) took its modern shape in 1986, when it was combined with the Diocese of Santa Severina. Today it is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Catanzaro-Squillace. In 2013 the archdiocese counted one priest for every 1,841 Catholics. The original Diocese of Cortone (also Cotrone, now Crotone) dated from the 6th century and was then a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Reggio.
