History

Created in 1817 from territory formerly belonging to the Diocese of Mondovì, the Diocese of Cuneo (Latin: Dioecesis Cuneensis) is a Latin diocese in Italy and a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Turin. Amedeo Bruno di Samone served as its first bishop, from 1817 to 1838. Cuneo itself is a provincial capital, the metropolis of the civil Province of Cuneo in Piedmont, which covered 1,566 square kilometers (604 Square Miles).
