History

Northeast Germany falls within the Archdiocese of Berlin (Latin: Archidioecesis Berolinensis), a Latin Church territory of the Catholic Church whose archepiscopal see is in Berlin. Its reach covers the city of Berlin, most of Brandenburg (excluding the southeastern corner, historical Lower Lusatia), and Hither Pomerania, the German part of Pomerania. As of 2004 the archdiocese counted 386,279 Catholics.
