Latin rite diocese in Canar Province, Ecuador, created on 26 June 1968 by Pope Paul VI from territory of the Archdiocese of Cuenca, of which it is a suffragan. Its seat is the Catedral San Francisco in Azogues. Bishop Oswaldo Patricio Vintimilla Cabrera has led the diocese since 25 June 2016.

History
By a papal bull of Pope Paul VI dated 26 June 1968, territory was taken from the Archdiocese of Cuenca to form the Roman Catholic Diocese of Azogues (Latin: Dioecesis Azoguensis). Its seat is the city of Azogues, within the ecclesiastical province of Cuenca in Ecuador.
