History

One of the oldest sees in Spain, tracing its foundation to the 3rd century, the Diocese of Astorga (Latin: Dioecesis Asturicensis) is a Latin Church diocese seated in the city of Astorga, in the province of León, Castile and León. Since 1954 it has belonged to the ecclesiastical province of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oviedo.

    Acción Católica Xeral will host the Cuatro40 encounter at the Mondoñedo Seminary from September 25 to 27. The event is open to participants from the Diocese of Astorga and all dioceses in Galicia. The program includes personal testimonies, experiential activities, and scripture reading. This gathering is part of a project for parish renewal and first announcement intended to help parishes become more evangelizing and encourage personal encounters with Christ. The encounter serves as the start of a longer process. Following the initial weekend, seven spaced meetings will take place over the following months to provide community and formation. This second stage acts as a pre-catechumenate to help establish stable discipleship groups within local parishes.
