The cathedral
Cattedrale di San Romolo stands in Fiesole, the church that holds the cathedra from which this see takes its name.
On what a cathedral is, see the cathedral; every see church on earth is gathered at the cathedrals.
History
With its episcopal see in the city of Fiesole, this Latin diocese of the Catholic Church (Latin: Dioecesis Fesulana) lies in Tuscany, central Italy. Fiesole answered directly to the pope until 1420; on the creation of the Archdiocese of Florence it became one of that see's suffragan bishoprics, a status it retains today.
