Syro-Malabar (East Syriac rite) archeparchy based in Kalyan, serving Syro-Malabar faithful across Maharashtra and Goa, India. Erected 30 April 1988 by Pope John Paul II and elevated to a metropolitan archeparchy on 28 August 2025. Its seat is the Cathedral of St Thomas in Kalyan.

History

Based in Kalyan, India, the Archeparchy of Kalyan is an Eastern Catholic archeparchy within the Syro-Malabar Church, established to cater the spiritual needs of the Syro Malabar Christians of the Indian State of Maharashtra, including the metropolitan cities of Mumbai, Pune and Nasik. Mar Paul Chittilapilly served as its first bishop, and the eparchy marked its silver jubilee in the year 2013. Mar Thomas Elavanal MCBS then shepherded the Eparchy until 2025.
