History
Erected in 1958, the Diocese of Mazatlán (Latin: Dioecesis Mazatlanensis) is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Durango. In 1968, both the diocese and the archdiocese ceded territory for the creation of the Territorial Prelature of El Salto.
