History
Covering the whole of Moldova together with the territory of the self-proclaimed state of Transnistria, the Diocese of Chișinău (in Latin: Dioecesis Chisinauensis, in Romanian: Dieceza Chișinăului) is a Latin Church see. It is exempt: rather than belonging to an ecclesiastical province under a metropolitan bishop, it is directly subordinate to the Holy See.
