The Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur is the Latin Catholic metropolitan see for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and surrounding states in Peninsular Malaysia. Erected as a diocese in 1955 and raised to a metropolitan archdiocese in 1972, it has Penang and Melaka-Johor as suffragans.

History

Pope Pius XII erected the Diocese of Kuala Lumpur on 25 February 1955; on 18 December 1972 it was raised to a metropolitan archdiocese, receiving Malacca-Johor and Penang as suffragan sees. Today the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur (Latin: Archidioecesis Kuala Lumpurensis; Malay: Keuskupan Agung Kuala Lumpur; Tamil: கோலாலம்பூர் மறைமாவட்டம்; Mandarin: 吉隆坡总教区) stands among the principal territories of the Catholic Church in Malaysia.

The sessions will run every Thursday from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM until November 26, 2026. The Diocese of Kuala Lumpur describes the program as a way for people to share life stories, rediscover their faith, and experience reconciliation within a welcoming community.   • First Berawan Catholic Priest Ordained in Miri Diocese

    The Diocese of Miri ordained Joel Rut Markus as its first Catholic priest from the indigenous Berawan community. More than 3,000 people attended the ordination mass at St. Dominic and The Rosary Church in Taman Tunku, Miri, during Malaysia Day celebrations. Born in Long Jegan, Baram, Markus completed eight and a half years of seminary training in Penang and Kuching. He decided to pursue the priesthood a decade ago after hearing a Dutch priest preach in the Iban language, which inspired him to serve local communities using their own language and culture. Bishop Richard Ng encouraged young men in northern Sarawak to consider the priesthood to increase local vocations. Markus will begin his ministry at Holy Family Church in Lapok.
