History

On the east-central coast of Sardinia, facing the Tyrrhenian Sea, sits the Diocese of Nuoro (Latin: Dioecesis Nuorensis), a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church and a suffragan of the archdiocese of Cagliari. Its history runs through several names: the diocese of Galtellì until 1779, then Galtellì-Nuoro until 1928, when it took its present name of Nuoro.
