History

Comprising the Province of Rizal and the city of Marikina in Metro Manila, the Diocese of Antipolo (Latin: Dioecesis Antipolensis, Filipino: Diyosesis ng Antipolo, Spanish: Diócesis de Antipolo) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in the Philippines. By Catholic population it presently ranks among the largest local churches in the country.

  • Bishop Ruperto Santos urges laity to bring Church into world

    Bishop Ruperto Santos told more than 300 delegates that the vocation of the laity is to bring the Church into everyday life rather than just attending Mass. During the opening Mass of National Laity Week 2026 at Nativity of Our Lady Parish in Marikina City on Sept. 26, 2026, the Bishop of Antipolo said evangelization must happen in homes, schools, workplaces, and businesses instead of only from the pulpit. Santos described the lay vocation as a missionary calling that sends Catholics into society to act as witnesses of Christ. Albert Loteyro, president of the Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas, also spoke to the group, stating that lay Catholics are co-responsible partners in the mission of the Church rather than spectators. Loteyro encouraged disciples to apply their faith to their civic duties, relationships, and personal choices.
