History
Formed as a diocese on November 28, 1937, and raised to an archdiocese in 1982, the Archdiocese of Palo is a large administrative Latin Catholic see in the town of Palo, with the dioceses of Calbayog, Borongan, Catarman and Naval serving as its suffragans. Its territory spans 4,620 km2 (1,780 sq mi) and holds an overwhelmingly Catholic population of 1,165,565. Two districts, Eastern and Western, divide the archdiocese along the lines of its two languages, Waray and Cebuano.
