Latin-rite diocese in eastern Paraguay, established 25 March 1968 as the Territorial Prelature of Alto Parana, elevated to a diocese on 10 July 1993 and renamed Diocese of Ciudad del Este in 2001; in February 2024 it lost territory to the new Diocese of Canindeyu. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Asuncion. Its mother church is the Catedral San Blas in Ciudad del Este.

History
Ciudad del Este, in the Ecclesiastical Province of Asunción in Paraguay, is the base of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ciudad del Este (Latin: Dioecesis Urbis Orientalis).
