Ukrainian Greek Catholic archeparchy formally established 6 December 2004 from an earlier exarchate, serving as the principal see of the Major Archeparchy of Kyiv-Halych and primatial see of the UGCC. The seat is the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv, held by the Major Archbishop.

History

In the central part of Ukraine lies the Archeparchy of Kyiv, a Ukrainian Greek Catholic archeparchy of the Catholic Church. Its ordinary, the Archeparch of Kyiv, is at the same time Metropolitan of the ecclesiastical province of Kyiv-Halych and Primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church; the incumbent is Sviatoslav Shevchuk, assisted by two auxiliary bishops, Bohdan Dzyurakh and Josyf Milyan. The archeparchy also founded the newspaper "Sobor".
